There were so many wonderful highlights to our first Furniture Painting Business Tips Cruise.
I truly felt like I was learning from every person in the room. We had 21 attendee's from all across the United States; Washington, North Dakota, Indiana, New York, Texas, Virginia, Utah, Montana, Nevada and Arizona! Such an amazing group of very talented furniture painting artisans in all aspects of the business. Shop owners, booth owners, and at home-business entrepreneurs.
We all have our strengths and it was so good to hear different questions, advice, solutions, suggestions on just about every topic in the furniture painting industry. We spent three days in our "Seminar at Sea - Painting in Paradise" discussing website development, spray painting tips, making extra money running workshops, how to deal with stress, identifying period furniture pieces, staging for scroll-stopping photo's, how to sell on Facebook, what brush to use, shipping nightmares, how to become a retailer of a line of chalky paint, branding our business... and so much more.
We also enjoyed three beautiful Caribbean destination ports. Highlights of the cruise were networking and making new friends, seeing amazing islands, holding monkeys, riding a horse on the beach, snorkeling in the beautiful Caribbean waters, cave tubing in the jungle, visiting ancient ruins, watching water tornadoes, and enjoying all of the great amenities of our beautiful ship, the Carnival Vista.
A special thank you goes to those who really helped make this event happen:
Carole Criddle of Planetcruiseship took care of all of the cruise bookings, provided our beautiful bags and much, much more!
Michelle David and Mina Lancaster of 2 Chicks and Toolbelt became the backbone of this event. They supported, contributed, presented, and became best friends in the process. Thanks to them we had some amazing drawing gifts!
Chalky Chicks Furniture Paint was a highlight of many of our presentations.
Steve Evans of Niche Website Pro took on the monstrous task of teaching us about building websites, Google SEO, branding and other "fun" subjects! He also had a drawing for a free website design!
Johannah Back of Got Good Bones® kept us smiling with her special spirit and taught classes on social media, picking, and furniture styles. I also appreciated her efforts to advertise the cruise on all of her websites!
Susanna Dussling had us doing jumping jacks, inspired us with her personal stories and taught us about hosting painting workshops.
Many other great companies provided drawing gifts and donations for our swag bags:
Earlex provided two spray stations valued at $350 each!
HomeRight donated a spray gun and spray tent!
Derrick Lawless of D Lawless Hardware gave each attendee a $25 gift card!
Lahna's Chocolates were a delicious treat for our bags!
uShip provided information on shipping and participant gifts!
Desiree of Blu Soul Design donated the most amazing sign for a drawing!
Virginia, owner of Just Life & Coffee provided us with information on business forms and gave a discount on her printable forms!
My Furniture Painting Business Tips group for the encouragement and support!
And my family! My husband Frank for his patience as I spent so many hours putting this together and my daughter Jana for making the aprons and much, much more!
When we come together as strangers and leave as friends... it's a success!
